The Process for Getting a Dental Bridge
Getting a dental bridge is a well-planned process that typically requires two visits to our Cloverdale clinic. You can expect the following steps:
- Evaluation and Planning — Our dentists examine your mouth and take x-rays to confirm that the teeth on either side of the gap are healthy and strong enough to support a bridge. We explain the process and gladly answer your questions.
- Preparing Supporting Teeth — We prepare the teeth on either side of the gap, which involves reshaping them slightly so the bridge can fit over them properly.
- Taking Impressions — Using impressions or digital scans, we design your restoration to match your smile. A dental laboratory uses our design to create your custom bridge.
- Temporary Bridge — If needed, we place a temporary bridge to protect your prepared teeth while the laboratory makes your final bridge.
- Final Fitting — When your new bridge is ready, our dentists check the fit, make needed adjustments and cement the bridge in place.
